- Summary
- Conference sponsored by the OSCE Special Representative on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and the Anti-Trafficking Assistance Unit; Under the Aegis of the Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons, 28 February 2005, Vienna, Austria. Because the key to sustainable solutions in the fight against trafficking in human beings is cooperation and coordination, the former OSCE Special Representative Helga Konrad initiated a close partnership with relevant international actors under the heading of Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons, of which La Strada International is part of. Within this framework, the Special Representative convened two meetings per year - one at the level of Ministers and one at expert level. The first Alliance meeting took place in Vienna in July 2004. The second conference took place in Vienna in February 2005, and discussed the results of workshops held in November and December 2004 with experts from OSCE participating States. They dealt with residence regime and asylum for trafficked persons, adequate victim protection and the needs of children.
