- Summary
- The report is based on interviews with 685 detained asylum seekers and irregular migrants in 21 EU Member States - project partners from the remaining 2 countries couldn't access detainees. It shows that detention itself is a key determinant factor influences detainees' level of vulnerability. No matter the detention conditions, detention has the same effects on people in all EU Member States: depression, anxiety, weight loss, insomnia, isolation from loved ones and disruption of life plans.
