Summary
An important aim of the present compilation, has been to expand upon the Experts' Seminar and to demonstrate some of the good practices that have emerged from OSCE-supported initiatives as well as projects supported by other organizations that may provide useful inspiration for future work in the OSCE region. This compilation should be useful to gender focal points, but also to a great many other personnel across the OSCE, working on such issues as human rights, democratization, anti-trafficking, rule of law, policing or military reform, for example. Violence against women is a complex problem that requires a cross-sector approach, and this compilation provides a considerable number of examples of diverse initiatives aimed at prevention, protection and prosecution. Of course, this compilation targets a much wider audience than the OSCE structures alone - an audience that includes policy makers, law enforcement bodies, legal professionals, social service agencies, educators, journalists, unions, the private sector, donors and, critically, civil society organizations in all of the participating States.
