- The Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants (PICUM)held its second workshop on the protection of undocumented children in theiraccess to basic social rights, on 4 April 2008 in Brussels, Belgium. Theworkshop brought together nearly 100 participants, including representativesof NGOs, local authorities, professionals from diverse fields, and otheractors to share experiences and discuss ways to address the problemsassociated with insufficient access to basic social services forundocumented children. During the afternoon, a two-session workshop was heldwhich focused on the discrimination that undocumented children might face ingaining access to education and housing. The first session was dedicated tothe identification of common needs and problems amongst undocumentedchildren and the second to successful strategies in working with them.The enclosed report provides an overview of the contributions of thespeakers, in addition to the main themes of discussion in the plenary andworkshop sessions.
