- Summary
- The National Strategy has addressed only one type of human trafficking – for the purpose of sexual exploitation. This approach arose from the then definition of human trafficking in the criminal legislation (only human trafficking for the purpose of sexual intercourse was considered human trafficking in the Penal Code) and from rather limited knowledge about other forms of human trafficking not only in the Czech Republic but in most European countries. The National Strategy of the Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings for the period of 2005 - 2007 contains the sum of all available information about the situation in the sphere of human trafficking in the Czech Republic and provides a survey of the measures taken in the past two years. Furthermore, on the basis of evaluation of tasks the National Strategy specifies measures aimed at combating human trafficking, and in consequence of broadening the legislative definition of human trafficking, which took place in 2004, and on the basis of research performed in the sphere of other forms of human trafficking and review of the situation, it extends the circles of the measures to these new spheres. The proposed measures are entirely in accordance with the recommendations of the international organisations and the approach of the European Union towards human trafficking.
