Summary
While studying the districts in West Bengal, Sanlaap found 9 districts, which sent maximum number of girls to prostitution and cheap labour in the last 15 years. The findings gave the researchers information on the status of girl children and women who were uneducated and most vulnerable and need protection by the State. Objectives of the study included: to assess the magnitude of migration; to identify the reasons of migration; to know the mode and nature of migration; to identify the profile of those who are being affected by migration; to understand the scope and manifestation of migration; to understand the possibilities of migration resulting in trafficking
