Summary
Report on trafficking in women, women’s migration and violence against women, submitted in accordance with Commission on Human Rights resolution 1997/44. The purview of this report is "from voluntary migration to trafficking in women: the continuum of women’s movement and the human rights violations perpetrated during the course of that movement". The report details the evolution of the Special Rapporteur’s position on trafficking. It includes an overview of the Special Rapporteur’s work undertaken throughout the year in regard to trafficking. The report also provides a critique of the 1949 Convention for the suppression of the traffic in persons and the exploitation of the prostitution of others.
