- The Netherlands has announced a ban on the hiring and supply of workers through recruitment agencies in the meat processing sector, starting from 1 March 2028. A transitional period applies until 1 June 2028 for workers already employed through temporary agency arrangements, after which the ban will apply in full. La Strada International, together with our members SHOP, CoMensha and FairWork, contributed to the public consultation on the bill in Dutch. We consider this a meaningful step towards tackling the exploitative recruitment practices that too often enable labour exploitation and human trafficking in vulnerable sectors.
