Summary
Following ratification of the Council of Europe Anti-Trafficking Convention, the Moldovan authorities have taken a number of steps to prevent and combat trafficking in human beings. In additionto the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in HumanBeings, which was established with the aim of co-ordinating anti-trafficking activities in the country, territorial commissions for combating trafficking in human beings and multidisciplinary teams have been set up at regional level to co-ordinate the provision of assistance to victims. Further, the National Referral System for Assistance and Protection of Victims and Potential Victims of Trafficking, which was launched in 2006 in five district of the country, currently covers the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova.
