Summary
This report represents ECPAT UK's response to the Government's position. It has been drafted on the basis of communication with a range of parliamentarians, countries in which a system of guardianship has been introduced, two workshops with ECPAT UK's Youth Group, and a comprehensive legal analysis of the UK's national and international obligations to child victims of trafficking. It finds that the UK has failed toprioritise the best interests of child victims of trafficking, and has failed to identify and subsequently provide for the distinct needs of these children. The impact of these failures continues to be disproportionate, serious and a real cause for concern.
