- Summary
- On 16 January Frontex released a report with information regarding the number of people who tried to enter the EU irregularly during the 3rd Quarter of 2010. According to Frontex, irregular migration has increased between the 2nd and 3rd Quarters of 2010, "more than expected". Four-fifths of all detections of irregular border-crossing were registered at the Greek land border with Turkey. Secondary movements to other Member States and an EU-wide increase of asylum applications were also detected. In particular, the number of asylum applications from Serbia and FYROM nationals has more than doubled compared to the 2nd Quarter.
