This second edition aims to: Document the substantial international policy and legal developments concerning children and armed conflict that have emerged since the publication of the first Guide in 2003; Fill the research gap in the area of children and armed conflict by developing a comprehensive overview of international humanitarian and human rights law to inform and build the capacity of practitioners, decision-makers and policy developers in the area of children and armed conflict, both in the field and at the policy level; Increase the momentum following the groundbreaking adoption of United Nations Security Council resolutions 1612 and 1882, along with other advances; Document and explain complex and abstract laws, policies and resolutions aimed at protecting children in armed conflict; Highlight concrete actions that can be taken by partners and actors working on child protection in the field.
